Every band is a journeyㅡan odyssey into musically informed relationships, a distillation of the complexities of experienceㅡboth mundane and profound. Desert Flower's latest album <EMBRACE> opens with a dramatic intensity that flows into droning, dreamy vocals floating quietly atop a more reserved but additive drama that informs the instrumentation of "Welcome To The New World". An attitudinal shift occurs in the edgier groove and fuzzy frenzy of "Strange Flower", while "Dust Storm" takes a darker turn, exposition on a more anxious world, intense in its unconcerned detachment. A reset occurs with the languid meandering of "Shade", a blending of soulful notes with the freshness of loving wonder. This reemergence continues under the mellowing of "Sunshine Kiss", while the liquid fluidity of "Donghae" likens to a pensive autumn stroll. "First Step" builds from a place of quiet solace, transitioning into an electrified, soaring accumulation before receding gently. The energetic "Sand Surfer" with its refreshing overtones and aggressive undertones shade into the post-apocalyptic, while "Plata o Plomo" is at times funky, fun and sinister. "Nowness" explodes in a kaleidoscope of vocal lushness before settling into nostalgic confessional that builds keenly; and the saga resolves into the dilating chronicle of "Pale Blue Dot"ㅡan expansive return to home. 1. Welcome To The New World
이 세상 원래 힘든 것 너도 나도 잘 알고 있지. 그러니 좋은 것만 생각해줘. 평화로운 일상, 마당에 핀 들꽃, 꿀벌들이 날아다니는 소리. 햇살 아래 잠시 낮잠을 자는 고양이. 우거진 나무들, 서늘한 숲속의 공기. 해가 지고 집으로 돌아오면 타닥타닥 난로 속에서 불타고 있는 장작들. 코끝에 스치는 불 냄새. 밤벌레의 울음소리. 괜찮아, 우리는 아직 살아있잖아.

2. Strange Flower
봄날의 햇살 같은 당신에게 바치는 곡. 끝없이 피고 지는 일상의 영원한 반복 속에서, 그대의 진심에 나는 날개를 달고 날아갈 수 있어요. 철없던 나는 고개를 숙여 나의 존경과 사랑을 보내요.

3. Dust Storm
‘어차피 다 죽을 건데 도대체 왜 화내고 싸우지?’ 하는 의문에서 시작된 곡. 불안은 영혼을 잠식한다. 우리가 의심만을 반복한다면. 그럴 땐 혼자 이렇게 속삭여, ‘이것 또한 지나가리라’. 폭풍 같은 화가 널 통째 삼켜버리기 전에 네가 만든 지옥 속에서 빨리 도망쳐. 가장 중요한 건 네 마음의 평화니까. 모래 폭풍이 지나면 녹음이 우거진 약속의 땅이 눈앞에 보일 테니.

4. Shade
실크처럼 부드럽고 아름다운 마음만 골라 담은 당도 100%의 사랑 노래. 바쁘고 지친 일상 속 유일하게 쉬는 일주일 중 하루, 친구들과의 약속 자리. 서로의 일상, 회사… 모든 일들을 잊고 그냥 웃어버려. 우리 잠깐 쉬었다 가자. 서로에게 시원한 그늘막이 되어 주자. 지금 이 순간은 너와 나의 기울어진 술잔 뿐, 당신의 눈동자에 건배.

5. Sunshine Kiss
당신은 꺽꺽 울었다. 지난날 당신이 힘들었던 일들이 주마등처럼 스쳐지나간 건지, 아니면 세월이 이렇게 빨리 흘러간 것이 야속한 건지. 당신이 세상에서 가장 행복한 날에는 더이상 울지 않기를 바라며 멋쩍게 입을 떼어 말을 건넨다. 살아있다는 것만으로 고맙다고. 걱정 마요. 잘 살고 있어요. 그러니까 울지 마요.

6. 동해 (Bridge)
바다와 같은 사랑을 테마로 한 인스트루멘털 곡. 파도 소리 속에서 시계 초침 소리가 들린다. 평소보다 훨씬 크고 느리게. 타임머신을 타고 지금까지의 삶의 여정을 돌아본다. 자, 이제 다시 뚜벅뚜벅 걸어 보자. 지난날의 나에 대해 한 점의 후회 없도록.

7. First Step
무방비 상태의 신생아는 눈을 뜨자마자 힘차게 모든 것을 받아들인다. 소통하는 방법을 터득하며 성장한다. 무수한 경쟁 속에 살아남는다. 살아온 날보다 살아갈 날이 많은 어린이는 크고 작은 영향들로 인해 고유한 인격체가 된다. 우리는 서로에 대해 다 알지 못한다. 심지어 어떤 것들은 영원히 알 수 없다. 유일하게 알 수 있는 것은 우리가 매번 ‘첫 걸음’을 내딛으며 뒤엉켜 살아가야 한다는 것뿐.

8. Sand Surfer
마음이 퍽퍽했다. 지금도 그러하다. 원초적인 외로움 속에서 내가 누군지 알고 싶었다. 존재하지 않는 답을 찾아 헤엄친다. 신기루를 만들어서라도 쉴 곳이 필요했다. 어딘가로 도망치고 싶을 때, 탈출하고 싶을 때, 뜨거운 은빛 모래에서 신나게 서핑한 후 시원한 음료수 한 잔!

9. Plata o Plomo
은 아니면 납, 이분법의 세계관 속에서 살아남는 법. 도망쳐라. 달려라. 나만의 안락한 구덩이에 몸을 숨겨라. 때를 기다려라. 서두르지 마라. 현명하게 판단하라. 욕심내지 마라. 겸손하라. 목소리를 높여라.

10. Nowness
제대로 사랑을 줄 줄 아는 사람들이 있다. 그런 이들은 바보지만 진짜배기다. 제대로 주기에 더 당당하고 후회도 없다. 그래서 다시 힘차게 웃으면서 새출발을 할 수 있다. 우리가 앞으로 어떤 일을 겪더라도 더 단단하고 늠름해지길, 멈추지 않는 강물 줄기들처럼 끊임없이 흘러 흘러가길, 바다가 되어 서로 잊지 않고 꼭 다시 만나길, 영원히 사랑하며 행복하길.

먼지같이 작은 점에 살고 있는 우리는 소중하게 주어진 이 짧은 시간을 구성하는 별이다. 나약하고 보잘 것 없지만 그만큼 서로를 더욱 보살피고, 존재함을 사랑하자는 의미를 담고 있는 곡.
